Gallon aquarium is aquaria which hold a gallon amount of water. Aquarium is a place where water plants and animals are kept and exhibited. Keeping an aquarium is hobby, luxury and also a necessity these days. Basically, an ideal aquarium should have an ecosystem matching the natural ecosystem of the fish. Creating a favorable habitat for the fish is the most important task .
A balance in the ecosystem of an aquarium allows a healthy environment for the fish and this provide them with a better life span. The aquarium should have a prey predator relationship and organisms for metabolizing the wastes of other organisms. Success of the aquarium depends on the similarity in the natural ecosystem and the aquarium ecosystem. It is always better to have large fish tanks. This gives room for the fishes to move about. If in a narrow fish tank, the fish can move only in parallel lines which create stress for the fish. The size of the tank should be large for proper aeration; only then gas exchanges will take place properly. Sometimes even a single systemic shock can ruin the whole ecosystem in case of smaller ecosystems. In larger tanks this won’t happen because the large volume of water dilutes the potentially harmful compounds. That is, the larger the capacity of the aquarium, the lesser it is affected by minor shocks. Today's aquarists and hobbyists across the globe prefer big gallon aquarium. The main advantage of gallon aquarium is that it does not need as much attention as that for smaller tanks. Moreover the ecosystem remains more or less stable even if there is any change in the overall equilibrium of the ecosystem.
